Financial aid for Hagley Golf Club
Updated at 4:38 pm on 9 June 2011
Christchurch City Council has agreed to use the mayor's earthquake relief fund to support Hagley Golf Club, which is facing financial hardship following the February quake.
The club grounds were badly affected by liquefaction and it has since had a major drop in player numbers.
Club president Geoff Druery told Thursday's City Council meeting that, without some form of support, the club could be forced to close.
The council agreed to underwrite up to $40,000 dollars from the Christchurch Earthquake Mayoral Relief Fund, on the condition the club agree to restructure to become self-sufficient.
